I wonder if anyone can give me sound advice regarding stock photo companies ( any reliable and worthy ) or any company that accepts photo's that you have an opinion about. I have several thousand images and am looking for outlets. I will have a web site soon but don't think that's the answer.

Thanks for the site. I gave it a look. They appear pretty demading and expect huge file sizes. I will need to look into it in more detail. I started using one called ShutterPoint. Secured some storage space and stared uploading some images this evening. It is a tough business to break in to with photographers coming out at every corner.

Hi Gregg - yep they are particularly careful about image quality - but the photo stock market demands that so they and the like probably sell more as a result and also they market the site so sell images i can atest to that - though they do take a reasonable slice of the action - there are more out there but i have most experience with them - good luck Tony

I would be interested in hearing your experience in marketing your stuff. How many sites have you put out your stuff with? Do you have a web page for displaying your work? HAs there been any money in it or just outlay? Have you gotten any of your work into local galleries or outlets and what has that been like?

I don't sell through them, but I've heard nothing but good stuff about them: istock.com - I'd certainly check them out.

My work is represented by indexstock.com They too are very demanding - large files, etc., but they do a great job. I have been with them since 1996.

I had Fotolia recommended to me yesterday. I haven't sold through this yet, but I've registered so far on account of the very least, it looks good to buy some photography through. Here's my affiliate link if you're interested: http://www.fotolia.co.uk/
