I have slowly been growing my photography business and it has survived switching careers, moving nine hours form home, planning my own wedding, and some financial hardships. However, I have kept it going and am now in the position to begin branching out and improving the site. Soon I will be adding travel shots from the island of Kauai.

One area I am going to enter soon (hopefully) is that of wedding photography. I informally used my equipment to shoot a friends wedding a few months back and was hooked. On my site (http://www.tririverphoto.com), you will find a growing gallery and a link to the wedding photography site (in the middle of the home page) I put together last evening.

Please let me know what you think of the sites I have put together and the photos featured there. I would love some feedback from someone who has made it in the photography business.

Thank you.

I am also looking for links to place on my site - if anyone is interested let me know.

Hi - i like your site easy to navigate and understand - and again the wedding pics you have are pretty good i think you could make a go of it - wedding photography is a serious business though and must be treated that way - one of the best ways to approach this is to practice more (ie do a few more weddings for free) to get your style and logistics down but as important you must learn how the business side of wedding photography works - spend some $ doing some courses on this most professional photography associations run these and they should address things like what are client expectations and selling to clients, costing weddings, making it profitable, running a business etc - these are valuable things to know before you start out in a serious way

i am sure you can do it just go about it in a systematic way - working out what information you need to run a successful business then going out and finding the answers

cheers

The TRP is losing it for me as far as readability goes. I would clean that up to make it more readable. The green/yellow color of the homepage seems sort of amateurish. I tried to look at your wedding pics but could not because I needed a password!

Look at some of the other photographer's sites for more ideas. Write me if you need any help.

Hi Tri

Please take the following comments on the web design as constructive criticism, not criticism for the sake of it!

I'm in the process of putting my first site together right now too, http://www.southphotography.co.uk to promote a packshot & product photography service, so I can sympathise with the efforts you're putting in! But I do work alongside some very skilled web designers...

On the web design front I'd agree with William here - focus on the colour scheme first of all. The black bars on the left seem very harsh. I wouldn't have them so close (leave some space for the headings between them) and do they need to be repeated all the way down the page? The Tri font needs to be changed. It's 'Mistral' isn't it? It's not easy to read - if you must use that font, rather than a larger or clearer sans serif font, I'd make sure it's anti-aliased, rather than the jagged appearance it has at the moment. If you were to replace the font, you'd be a long way towards improving the overall appearance. After that, I'd consider using a colour scheme that's less harsh.

Best of luck with the site, and of course the wedding photography!
Gordon
