Hello Meredith, greeting from the USA to the fantastic land of Oz!

I have looked at your website.

There are two critical elements to a good photographic website in my opinion.

First, is to remember that your site is about photography, thus, the second the site opens one should be greeted with an outstanding photograph, or group of photographs that creates an interest to look further.

Second, is to stress simplicity, especially in navigation. Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity. Too many choices on the opening page turns viewers off. Keep the choices limited from the outset. For example, products, galleries, contact me, about me.

Your site is busy, filled with too many choices, and does not WOW me with that opening click. The WOW factor is big on the Internet. Most folks will see a site and decide within 1/10th of a second whether to look further or to move on. So, that opening click must have a WOW factor, and from there, ease of choices to explore further.

I hope this makes sense to you. Go look at http://www.moversoflight.com -- note the opening WOW factor, try the ease of navigation, look at the few choices one has to go further. Experience the site.

Look at my site: http://www.bill.lockhart.name -- examine the opening, explore the navigation, look at the array of choices.

Go to http://www.toja.com and look at the simplicity of the opening screen, only three choices. If you choose photography, WOW!

In sum, open with WOW, keep it simple, make it easy to use, get rid of distractors.

Best regards, and good light in your future work,

Bill
