Hey there, I'm just starting out in the world of photography...I've only been going at it for a month and a half (I started when I got my first camera as an 18th birthday present)--my whole life, I'd been convinced I could never take a decent picture. So, here is a simple gallery of some of the pictures I've taken. Constructive feedback would be fantastic; I'd really like to expand my horizons.

Thanks much :)

Hi Jacob,

great start. you have a good eye for composition and technical aspects along with better lighting and the such will come later. As an experienced photographer i would like to share a knowledge I have acquired throughout my photography years. Remember this:

"You are only as good as your worst image"

In general, if you want to be taken seriously as a photographer, never publish any picture you have taken, which is out of focus, has terrible, disposable camera like lighting, harsh shadows on the wall or people's faces (unless any of these is used to emphasize artistic merit), etc. I'm not aware of any better ways to become good photographer and improve on one's skills than by taking pictures - taking lots of pictures. And you seem to be going that direction so I believe you soon will make people's jaws drop with your photography. Continue shooting a lot, then take a look at your pictures and compare them to pictures of those whom you admire as photographers and elaborate on it yourself. You'll do good ;)

I wish you the best of luck in your future photographic endevaurs.

Mark

Mark, I'd like to tell you how much I appreciate everything you said. This is the most useful feedback I've gotten from anyone, so I want to thank you. The positive stuff was extremely nice to get--and after seeing your photography, I felt extremely special to get such nice comments. I'm now a big fan of your works and you've made made me a happy guy :)
