Hi all,
I've done a few critiques of websites and now it's your turn (hopfully not payback ). I've added some of my fellow traveller's pictures that I went with to London, England. I invite any constructive criticism of my pictures or my site, without you I can't get any better . You can add comments to indivitual pictures or in my guestbook.

Hi Martin,
here's my $.02 - pictures are awesome. First impression that I got after your site loaded though, was... "Gosh, I hate those sites made of templates"
But I guess it's far better than nothing. In general, everything is really cool, though.
JMHO,
Mark

lol. You proved my worst fears. You do have an excellent point, I wanted to get my pictures up there as fast as possible and a template seemed like the best way. I customized it as much as I could but at the end of the day it is still a template nevertheless.
My biggest issue about templated sites (I.E. mine ) is the inital loading time is way too long. You mentioned in another post that no user would ever wait longer then 5 seconds for a page to load and I think your generous. Making a templated website more efficient is twice more work then making a website from scratch. I guess I'll start designing a fresh website but I'll be while before it's up.
Thanks for the response, Mark.
Cheers
Martin.

Hey Martin,
that's really funny. i can imagine optimizing your template is quite the tast. Don't think it's any easier to come up with your own. I mean, once you get the design you like down, then it's all just a lot of manual work, but to get that layout to be happy with is quite the task too. I'm no web designer so I had to redo mine over and over many a time. And I had a clear idea in mind (same layout as you see now), I was just looking for ways to make it load fast etc and each time I learned about something new which would make it better I had to redo the mainframe of my site. man, i tell ya... once you get into this web site business, it grabs a hold of you and never lets go. It's a neverending circle of work.
Then once you start getting 2000 unique visitors to your site every day, like I do now, you definitely want to make sure your site is OK, and here come all your long weekends
Anyway, in today's world you are certainly left behind if you don't have a website and one has to start someplace. When i was building my site (3 years ago) I had no ideas there is such thing as templates. I would have probably helped myself into one to make my work a little easier. I don't know, all in all it's all good.
