Hello fellow photographers, I have just finished creating my site http://www.photos-of-london.com , and it would be great to get some feedback on my work. I have been looking at my images for so long that I have completely lost any sense of objectivity!
Hello Fellow Photographer. I had a look at your website and really liked what I saw. From the photography point of view, I do not have much to contribute. There are two other points you might like to think about.
First (and I say this frequently here) I never understand why thumbnails are frequently made so small. Once someone lands on your website, the thumbnails are your best advertisements. If people can not see them, they will probably not click on them. I have a difficult time seeing the very nice work on your tiny thumbnails. Do you notice that usually ads are written with readable print size? Your thumbnails are your ads, why not make them more visable?
The other issue that I would like to point out is the naming of your photos. Sparkly might sound nice to you, but to a search engine spider it does not mean much. It is very unlikely that somone who is looking for a photo of london will search under the word sparkly. Many of your photos are named well, but I would suggest to look at key word suggestion sites and select names for your photos that are often used and fit with the image. That way, when somone looks for a photos of London using one of the image search engines (google image search, Yahoo image search, MSN image search) your photos are more likely to come up and that photo will more likely lead the person to your website.
Have a look at my two photography websites to see what I mean. Please do not misunderstand, I am not saying that mine is perfect and I hope that someone gives me comments that will help me do better with search engines. Again, compliments on your photography and the best of luck to you.
