Basically I want to do this;

Put a camara in a car. Connect to laptop and satnav gadget. Set the set up so that one frame is taken every ten metres.

We're talking location-lapse photography.

Can anyone tell me how?

(...then maybe I'll tell you why...)

Andy,

I might not be of much help here as I've never seen such thing done as you're mentioning, however I have an experience from my past when I was a videographer. More advanced vidio equipment (DV Cam, DVC Pro) have the feature which captures a single frame every 10 minutes (or so, it's adjustable). This is how they film flowers growing - because only one frames is captures within certain lenght of time, it all blends up together as a few seconds long sequence of seeing that flower grow, rather then  watching hours of footage in which it will appear as if nothing was happening, Because when you only capture one frame each 10 inutes, in these 10 minutes there is a good chance the flower had moved as it was growing.

So anyway, just thought I'd mention that though it might not be exactly what you are looking for :)

Thanks for the tip there Mark

Yes, as you say, it is similar in concept to time-lapse photography.
That's why I'm hoping it's not difficult to do..
