4 days ago I decided to take up a discount offer from DxO for their new Optics 3.5 software. This discount offer supposedly gave me US$20 off the normal price.
When trying to apply the discount code in the purchase form, their server continually rejected it and in frustration I decided to purchase at full price and ask for a refund on the discount offered.
I paid by Visa and received an email saying I'd get a download link with 10-30 minutes............after 2 days I finally got one.
HOWEVER, this software requires activation or it cannot be used at all.
I tried to activate it over the internet but once again their server rejected me. I turned off my firewall and all internet security and tried again: I was rejected again and a box appeared asking me to make an international toll call to activate the sotfware.
Reluctantly I made the call from New Zealand to Switzerland (an expensive call half way around the planet).
BUT instead of reaching a technician or support team who could give me an activation number, I reached an answer phone that told me to ring back later.
It is now 4 days later and DxO has not answered any of my questions about the discount or the activation which I still cannot get done. Is it reasonable for me to be required to continue making international toll calls to that answer phone so I can actually use the software I have paid for?
Is it reasonable to ask for a refund or even a reply regarding the $20 discount I was offered but was not allowed to access?
