Hi,

Does anyone else own a Canon Powershot A80?  If so can you recommend any invaluable accessories for it?  I currently own a 52mm adaptor ring, Hoya Circular Polarizer and Hoya NDx2.  Next on my list is an NDx4.

Does anyone own a 2x teleconverter for their A80, I fancy one next but don’t know if they are worth the money, if you have one does it affect the picture quality adversely, does it make a noticeable improvement to the zoom etc.

Your help is much appreciated.

Paul

Paul - it will depend on what sort of images you want to take - if you want to shoot wildlife etc i don't think a 2x will give you extra - i don't have experience with that particular camera (i have a G5) or canon digi tele extenders but with some of the tele extenders i have used you tend to get additional softness or distortion at the long end which can sometime make the result a bit dissapointing - i have the wide angle for the G5 which i like but its a bit bigger and cumbersome than i'd really like and the process of attaching it is a bit of a hassle - having said that the A80 has a reputation of being a great little camera for candid photography - good color nice handling

Thanks for the advice, just after I posted I was warned by my friends step dad that the 2x lens would also suffer from vignetting (think thats spelt right) at the wide end, but then I guess you would remove it if you were pulling back.  My main concern was that there would be a quality issue with sharpness and it doesnt sound like it is worth the £45 it will cost me to get one.  Shame, it seemed like a useful piece of equipment when I first saw them.  Guess I will just have to use my legs and 'move closer' to the subject :)

Thanks again

Paul
